Soft Bioelectronics & Hydrogel-Based Sensors
We are an interdisciplinary research group in the Department of Materials Design and Innovation at the University at Buffalo. We design soft hydrogel-based bioelectronic devices for sensing, stimulation, and communication with living systems.
Research Areas & Directions
We study soft materials, hydrogel electronics, and biointerfaces that communicate with biological and environmental systems through ions, electrons, and light.
Hydrogel-Based Biosensing
Soft hydrogels engineered for detecting metabolites, pH, and biochemical and physiological signals.
Organic Electrochemical Transistors (OECTs)
Printed ionic–electronic devices for multiplexed sensing and time-dependent signal processing.
Ion Transport & Hydrogel Electrolytes
Hydration-controlled ion mobility, molecular transport, and self-healing polymer networks for next-generation devices.
Soft Biointerfaces for Health
Conformable hydrogel and electronic interfaces for physiological sensing, stimulation, and communication with living tissues.
Plant Bioelectronics & Environmental Sensing
Printed and hydrogel-integrated sensors for monitoring ionic, physiological, and environmental signals in plants.
